The weave

A pattern lifted from the paddocks around Chirnside Park.

We work with a small jacquard mill outside Melbourne that still weaves to order, in linen-cotton blends heavy enough to hold a crease and soft enough to use without thinking about it.

Every piece is stone-washed before it ships, so it arrives at the softness most tablecloths take two years to reach.

55% linen / 45% cotton

The blend that keeps the drape of linen without the ironing obligation.

Jacquard, not printed

The wheatfield check is woven into the cloth — it won't crack, fade or wash out.

Stone-washed finish

Pre-softened before it leaves the mill. Ready for the table on day one.

The story

Started at a kitchen table in Chirnside Park.

Chirnside Home began with Louise Aldridge, who grew up two streets from the old homestead the suburb is named for and never lost the feeling that a table properly set was a table properly loved.

"My nan had a cloth for every season and never once bought a new one. I wanted to make that possible again, without the hand-me-down luck required to get there."

Care ritual

Three habits, one heirloom cloth.

01

Cold wash, always

A gentle 30° cycle keeps the jacquard pattern crisp and the linen fibres from breaking down early.

02

Line dry, out of direct sun

Tumble drying is the fastest way to age a good cloth. Ours prefer the clothesline and a bit of shade.

03

Iron while damp

A warm iron on a still-damp cloth sets a crease that lasts the whole dinner without any spray starch.

★★★★★

"I'd bought three different tablecloths off the internet before this one that all pilled within a month. The wheatfield cloth has been through eleven washes and looks better than when it arrived."

Anneke Voss, 41 — Blackburn, VIC
★★★★★

"The napkin set replaced paper towels at every dinner. My kids actually use the cloth ones now because they're soft, not scratchy like the last set."

Marcus Iliadis, 36 — Chirnside Park, VIC
★★★★☆

"Ordered the runner and the placemats together. Slightly heavier weight than I expected but that's exactly why it drapes properly. Ironed once, hasn't needed it since."
